The pic that pains !

Tuesday, February 21, 2006

Yesterday I was looking at my friend Rusty's Orkut album and found above picture and I donno why but it really touched my heart. The caption of the picture says "The pic that pains !".

For me this picture is more inspiring than painful. What inspired me was the smile on the face of the old man. I believe he would have lost all his belongings to the floods but still he manages to save the odd old sewing machine (probably his most priciest possesion) and carries a nice smile on his face, what a beauty! I can see his enthusiasm to start his life once again from scratch. Man, he is a real warrior. Hats off to the old man!!! He seems to be much younger than most of the people around me and probably including me.

I have seen people cribbing about petty things and being sad about the thing they cannot control. Come on! World is full of misery but the same world is also full of happiness and wonders and its you who has to choose from either of them misery or happiness.

The message I got from this picture is that its you who define your life. Pains and misery are part and parcel of life and if you have a positive outlook towards life then no pain is big enough to ruin your life. With each pain and misery you tend to become more strong and probably more practical. Be positive and believe in "Failure is just one step towards Success".

"Duniya sabko kuch na kuch rang dikhati hi hai... But asli insaan wahi hai jo har rang ko JEET ke rang mein badal de!"

I would suggest few songs for everyone :

1) Khudi - Junoon
2) Fatela Jeb - Aankhein (thanks to Sunanda aka Badgirl for this)

and there are lots more.... let me know if you come across better songs! :-)

Love Insurance

Thursday, February 09, 2006

Have you ever thought of having Love-Insurance? Few days back I got this weird idea of having love-insurance somewhat parallel to health insurance or auto insurance. In US insurance is a booming industry and it has its own pros and cons. Here goes my idea for Love-Insurance.

The process goes like this i.e. if you are in love then you and your partner needs to insure that love. Depending on your Love-Credit-History* and your partner's Love-Credit-History* the premium for the insurance would be decided. There would be other factors too which would decide the premium for e.g. your age, your education background, your financial dependence, etc. Then as you move along and time passes and number of years you spend together increases your premium would decrease accordingly.

Coming to the benefits of having love insurance is that when there is a break-up you can claim your insurance and an independent investigating agency (Wow! Another industry because of Love-Insurance, I’m creating more jobs for everyone.) would investigate on your case and comes out with the reasons of the break-up and accordingly compensation would be given to the sufferer. Of course money cannot give back your love but it would keep a check on false love and break-ups.

Of course, it would also have its own drawbacks. The major one would be false claims, people would have love insurance and try and create situation intentionally so that his/her partner does something stupid or hire some professionals to lure the partner into some illicit activities and thereby making a claim for love insurance. To prevent this we need to have proper investigation agency which can dig out the truth. Probably, I guess one of the best ideas would be to have periodic survey about how you feel about your partner, if there are any differences, what you don’t like in your partner, what you like the most in your partner, etc. Also it would be great if Love-Insurance companies would have some great counselors who can help out their clients to have a lasting relationship. Great ideas coming to my mind J I guess I’m going to file a patent for this noble concept.

What do you say??? Comments are welcome!

*Love-Credit-History: This is somewhat analogous to your financial Credit History. For example if you have betrayed your last partner then your love-credit-history would have big –ve points i.e. you are not reliable. It would also be dependent on how many relationships you were involved in and the period for each relationship, less number of relationships means more dependable you are in terms of love insurance.
There are lots of other thought which I wanted to put down but just to kick off the idea this much is enough I guess ;-).
